Global Carehab

About us - Special needs supplier

Hi, my name is Peder Lindhardt and I am the founder and owner of Global Carehab. Global Carehab was established in 2009, with a focus on the support and delivery of products to children and teenagers (into adulthood) with special needs. I began working in this area in 1995, and have since then worked closely together with therapists and families in the attempt to make their daily activities just a little easier! I visit families and therapists in Denmark and Germany for fittings and have gained substantial knowledge about the challenges for families and therapists with special needs children.

Every year I participate at exhibitions in order to meet parents and therapists, where it is possible to exchange experiences and make fittings.

In 2009 I introduced the “Special Tomato” products in Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Middle East, Africa, and Asia, where I am working closely together with partners who are able to be in direct contact with parents and therapists. Besides the “Special Tomato” products I have added a couple of other product ranges which compliment the “Special Tomato” products and thus provide families with new opportunities for activities and support for the special needs users!

The “Special Tomato” product range consists of our main products, and I am excited to work with this product range, as it has been developed and continues to develop with the users in mind.

The name “Special Tomato” came around in a very special way, which you can read below.

The Special Tomato Story

My dad and mom had four children. The first three children were healthy and regular people. Then I came along, a baby with a difference, Down Syndrome. I had a hole in my heart, a rip in my heart valve, jaundice, a big tongue and a wobbly head. As I got older I also realized that I am a slow learner. One day it was bothering me that I was having a hard time doing my school work. I told my dad about this problem and he shared a story about when he was out in his garden picking tomatoes the year I was born. Every year my dad grows a garden and loves to plant tomatoes. At harvest time there were Beefsteak tomatoes on a bush. When he saw a differently shaped tomato it got his attention. It had a large, smooth, bright red enlarged side that made my dad want to pick it up and study the bump because it was so unique and looked appetizing. At supper, that tomato was just as juicy as the others.Even though I’m different like the tomato as a person with Down Syndrome, my family and friends love me even more and want to help me when I need it. My dad tells me that even though I have more difficulty learning than my brother and sisters, my lovable and outgoing personality and strong character make me just as special as they are. I guess I am the special “tomato” on our family’s bush.
