Ankle Positioning Side Release

The same ankle positioning, but with a side release buckle instead of hook-and-loop. Opens with one squeeze for faster transfers, holds at the same tension every day, and stays fastened for users who tend to pick Velcro open.

  • Keeps feet on the footrest and corrects foot position
  • Quick one-click release; repeatable tension via ladder lock buckles
  • Rounded webbings, covered buckles, trim strip — skin-friendly finish
  • Mounting brackets included · CE-marked · Sizes XS–L
  • Must always be used together with a hip belt — release ankles first

Feet held securely, released in one click

The Ankle Positioning Side Release wraps around the ankles and mounts to the footplate with metal brackets, holding the lower limbs in a correct, symmetrical position. The difference from the hook-and-loop version is the closure: a side release buckle that opens with a single squeeze.

That matters most in two situations therapists know well. Transfers happen many times a day, and a buckle is faster and cleaner than peeling apart hook-and-loop while bent over a footplate. And for users who learn to pick at Velcro and free themselves, a buckle holds where hook-and-loop won’t.

  • Positions the lower limbs and keeps feet on the footrest
  • Side release buckle — quick one-handed opening for transfers
  • Ladder lock buckles set the length once, so tension is repeatable every day
  • Metal attachment brackets for the footplate included (4x brackets, 4x ladder locks)

Built for daily wear on a bony area

The ankle has little soft tissue to spare, so the finish counts. Rounded webbings avoid hard edges over the malleoli, covered buckles keep hardware off the skin, and a trim strip tucks excess strap into the holders so nothing reaches the wheels or moving parts of the chair.

  • Rounded webbings and covered buckles for skin protection
  • Trim strip and strap holders keep webbing clear of the wheels
  • Water-repellent materials; hand wash at max. 30 °C, do not tumble dry
  • Single adjustable · CE-marked medical device

Safety and fitting

This is a positioning aid, not a safety belt, and must always be used together with a hip belt. Securing the ankles without stabilising the pelvis lets the user slide forward while the feet stay fixed, loading the knees and hips. Equally important is the order of release: always unfasten the ankle positioning first, and only then the hip belt.

Assembly and adjustment should be carried out by authorised personnel, and the product used on their recommendation. Do not use where the user has vascular disease or impaired sensation without medical advice, and always keep straps clear of catheters and stomas. Check attachment and strap tension daily, and inspect webbing, belts and padded parts regularly for wear.

  • Always combine with a hip belt — release ankles first, hip belt second
  • Fitting and adjustment by an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or other authorised personnel
  • Not suitable without medical advice for vascular disease or reduced sensation
  • Daily check of attachment and tension; regular wear inspection
