Hjem / Harnesses & vests / Feet harness
Foot harnesses keep the feet placed and supported on the footplate, so a child who kicks, pushes or slides can hold a functional seated position throughout the day. When the feet are unsupported, that movement travels up through the legs and pulls the pelvis and trunk out of alignment — securing the feet stabilises the base the whole posture is built on.
Every foot harness in the range is padded with soft neoprene, which spreads pressure across a wide surface instead of a narrow strap line, protects the skin over the ankle bones and gives the even, gentle compression many children find settling during longer sitting sessions.
The harnesses differ in one respect: the closure. Choose between hook-and-loop, plastic teeth buckle and side release buckle, depending on how quickly the harness needs to be opened and who will be handling it day to day. All models mount to strap mount cam buckles on the chair or footplate.
A child’s day rarely takes place in one chair. The same foot support is needed in the classroom, at the dining table, during therapy and at home in the evening — and the more consistent that support is, the less the child has to adapt to a new position in every setting.
In a classroom, secure feet mean fewer interruptions. A child who is not repeatedly repositioning their feet can stay with a task longer, and support staff spend less time on adjustments. The harnesses are simple enough for teachers and assistants to fit confidently once shown, and the wipe-clean neoprene handles mealtimes and messy activities without difficulty.
Where several staff members share responsibility for the same child, equipment has to be quick to fit and consistent in how it is set. Every harness in the range is machine washable for shared hygiene requirements, and built with reinforced stitching at the load points to withstand repeated daily handling.
At home, the same harness supports mealtimes at the family table, homework and quiet time in an activity chair. Parents and siblings can manage it without specialist training, and the range of closures means you can choose the one that suits your household — a quick release for busy mornings, or a stepless closure that adapts to thick winter boots and swollen ankles.
All foot harnesses attach to strap mount cam buckles fitted on the chair or footplate. These are separate fittings, not part of the harness, and can be retrofitted where they are missing. We recommend the first fitting is set up together with the child’s physiotherapist or occupational therapist, so the position matches the seating assessment.
